Michigan Tech changed goalies Saturday and got an equally great performance from Rob Nolan, who had 35 saves, including 13 in the first period, in a 6-1 win.
Minnesota State changed goalies, and Dan Tormey allowed four first-period goals as the Mavericks were swept in the WCHA series.
The Mavericks outshot the Huskies 36-30.
It was the first time Tech has swept MSU since the 1996-97 season, the Mavericks' first as a Division I program.
Trevor Bruess scored the Mavericks lone goal and prevented the first back-to-back shutouts since 2001.

Who's the brainiac that decided a young team like the Mavs, didn't need to play any preseason games? Tech played 3 and Alaska will have played 5 by the time they have their way with us. Good Luck Mavs!
Mavs will be 2-2 a week from now. That was our ex-games this weekend. Much sharper in second weekend.
This next weekend is key. They can't afford another weekend like they just had. We have seen to many slow starts to the season from Jutting's Mavericks. This is a trend that needs to stop.
I agree with you Hagar. Sheesh. Let's get a move on boys. Reckless abandon was the mantra of the 1981 championship team. What is this team's mantra? Maybe they need to hear from someone who's got fire in the belly.
I think the Mavs have One distinct problem. They have four descent lines but none are a top line in the WCHA so we get worked on the top line. Our other lines not scoring is also a problem. We all will see what happens against AA this weekend. This weekend will tell us alot about the Mavs and how they will do this season
