Chay Genoway scored the Sioux's fifth power-play goal of the weekend at 2:48, and Evan Trupp finished off a rush just after the ensuing faceoff.
Mavericks goalie Mike Zacharias was pulled after that, and Dan Tormey saw his first game action since Nov. 17.
Tormey stopped all four shots he faced the rest of the way, and Jerad Stewart added a late power-play goal for the Mavericks, who have not won in their last four games.

5 on 5 we played with UND all weekend long definitely wasn’t a massacre out on the ice.
I saw the home team watch their leading scorer get brought down a notch or two in a one on one that he should have avoided, but instead, let the ND guys get inside of his head and mess with him. He is or was the team's leading scorer - he needs to know that he needs to stay in the game for his team. That's a lack of discipline. I saw a Mav squad take dumb penalties, miss passes that caused icing calls and faceoffs in their zone, etc. What difference does a 5x5 discussion make when a team takes dumb penalties and puts themselves down a man and gives up goals? The flip side was not good either - giving up a short handed goal. We were riding Zach for a while there. He can't carry the team...
What was up with Youds holding the puck again and again behind our net on the power play for what seemed like an eternity? The power play clock doesn't stop and wait for you to attack when you're holding the puck behind your own net.
Here's a quote for you from the ND blog relating to the history between Bruess and the ND Players:
"Then, Trevor Bruess starts punching Kaip, who turned to the bench and asked if he could go. The coaches said no, because Kaip would have to miss two games since he already had a DQ from a fight a couple of weeks earlier. Kaip takes the punches without retaliating. Bruess gets a fighting major and game DQ."
Note two things about this quote: 1) Kaip turned to his coaches and looked for a nod to go - they told him no and he didn't go
2) Kaip took the punches and Bruess gets a game DQ
Bruess had a target on his back the whole time. Things played out exactly like ND wanted. He lost his cool and the Mavs lost him for the weekend....
Just for the record, Kaip was interviewed before the game on Saturday and said that he and Bruess talked the whole game and decided that they would have a go at it.
Everyone had to know that Kaip and Bruess were going to have fight and they did. The matter was solved like men. It worked out well in this situaton. If you notice the game on Saturday was more clean and less of the B.S.
This situation proved that the code worked.
Mavfan is right....The Sioux intimidated us all weekend. The Sioux looked for the prefect shot to a fault. Quality shots UND. Just shots the Mavs. Don't have anyone that shoots the puck hard? The Power play for the Mavs..weak at best. We can't get into the zone and once we do we move the puck to slow. No. 12 on the power play? Are you kidding me? Can't move, can't hit and no shot. Watch his defense and corner work...you won't see any. Shorty by the Sioux. No. 12 on PP. He's not division I.
No. 10 on the kill? Too small to fill the passing lanes and doesn't have the reach or cover the points. Take a look, if I'm not mistaken, 3 power play goals by UND (No.10 on the ice) Wake up coach! Don't we have anyone who will take the body and be the first in to dig the puck? Don't count on it. Coach likes little fast guys that chase and are out of position. Jutting has to go...
