Mavs land state's top goal scorer
The Mavericks recently got a commitment from Park Rapids forward Zach Lehrke. Lehrke, a top-10 Mr. Hockey finalist, finished second in scoring in Minnesota high school hockey with 54 goals and 45 assists for 99 points. The state's leading goal scorer, he finished one point behind Mankato West's Ricky Litchfield in the regular-season scoring race. After the playoffs and the state tournament Lehrke was one point behind Beau Hanowski of Little Falls. It appears likely that Lehrke will play some junior hockey before coming to Mankato. MSU coach Troy Jutting cannot comment on committed or potential recruits until the have signed national letters of intent.

Awesome! Any new insight on the possibility of Ricky Litchfield getting the chance to commit to the Mavs as well? Also, what are the chances that Mr. Lehrke will end up being an NHL prospect?
Congrats to the Mavs on landing Lehrke. Clearly, these kids (Lehrke and Litchfield) are great scoring talents.
Although it seems more relevant in Litchfield's case, it seems the stats that these kids were able to pile up this year in games that finished 12-1 or 8-0 might inflate some fans' expectations for how their recruitment might unfold.
You're right Shane: The playoffs simulator can get you going for awhile. The Mavs sure are clinging to NCAA hopes...
I'm just curious as to how the selection committee will rig the bracket to fist the WCHA per usual. Perhaps seven WCHA teams on one side of the bracket?

Like a lot of Mavericks, not very good as an 18-year-old, but after a year or two of junior hockey, and hopefully a few successful years with the Mavericks, who knows what could happen. His size will always be a factor against him, but he's got a nice work ethic, which can take a player far.
