The 41st annual Grand Forks Herald preseason WCHA coaches poll is out, and, like the media who cover the league, the coaches picked Minnesota Stat to finish 11th in the 12-team league (although one point out of 10th). Denver was picked to win the league. Here are the results:

Player of the year: Jaden Schwartz, CC (8 votes), Justin Schultz, UW (2), Terry Broadhurst, UNO (1), Jack Connolly, UMD (1).

The media and the coaches must know something. Maybe the MSU Athletic Department should see this and not stand for mediocrity.
I was wondering once the new conferences start in 2013, will they take all the top on-ice officials with them? Or are they under contract with the WCHA? I'm just wondering if it will affect the quality of officiating in the league.
Ok, enough with all the negativity. It's time to play some hockey. Let's have a good season Mavericks. We can rehash this past summer's events again once the season is over.
Hagar, good question, but I respectfully disagree with your premise that we've had "quality officiating."
