Mavericks 5, Bulldogs 0

Freddy's three thoughts (from afar) ...

Technically on vacation this weekend, but can't not monitor what the third-ranked Mavericks are doing. Pretty good night overall for them, especially Marc Michaelis and Dryden McKay:

It was a record-setting night for the Minnesota State men’s hockey team.

In a 5-0 WCHA victory over Ferris State on Friday, the third-ranked Mavericks saw senior Marc Michaelis break the school record for career short-handed goals and sophomore goaltender Dryden McKay break the program’s single-season record and tie the career mark for shutouts.

Michaelis finished with two goals, including his 10th career shorty. McKay stopped 19 shots for the 11th clean sheet of his career and seventh this season.

Julian Napravnik also scored two goals, and defenseman Wyatt Aamodt had the other goal. Jared Spooner assisted on three goals.

Around the WCHA: Bowling Green 3, Michigan Tech 2 ... Northern Michigan 4, Alaska Anchorage 1 ... Bemidji State at Alabama Huntsville ... Lake Superior State at Alaska (late)
