MSU commit wins Mr. Hockey

Elk River senior and future Minnesota State player Jake Jaremko was named Mr. Hockey on Sunday. The award goes to the top senior in Minnesota high school hockey.

The Mavericks have never had a Mr. Hockey winner on their roster before, although they have had finalists, including David Backes and Travis Morin.

Jaremko scored 25 goals and assisted on 54 others this season. (He also led the High School Elite League in scoring last fall.) The Elks fell to Duluth East in the finals of the Section 7AA tournament.

Jaremko will play in the USHL next season. His rights were traded to the Chicago Steel last fall. He's also on the NHL Central Scouting list, placed 107th among North American skaters on the service's Midterm Rankings.
