Jerad Stewart scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season, including his third game-winning goal, and four other Mavericks had goals in a 6-1 nonconference win over RIT on Friday night at a chilly Verizon Wireless Center.
Rylan Galiardi, Tyler Pitlick, Michael Dorr and Nick Canzanello also had goals for MSU, and Phil Cook kept up his trend of fine, Friday-night performances by stopping 30 of 31 shots.

COLD... Missed the start as the car was frozen to the ground...
Saw some good things with the line changes. Scoring spread out which is always nice.
Liked the Elbrecht/Mosey combo. BIG along with speed and physical. He should have earned another start tonight with +3 and some strong checks including the 5 minute major slash he drew at the end of the game. That type of physical play wears on the opponents as we saw.
See my post of a couple of days ago on the D. I'm still searching for Schiller/Mosey past stuff to share.
Car is plugged in and ready for tonight.
GO MAVS
The problem with Big analysis of the D is the same mistake almost everyone makes. The points almost never tell the story. Ex. A D makes four mistakes in a game that could have lead to goals but the goalie or his teammates bail him out. Then he happens to get a goal in the game. Under the analysis of how so many look at D they would say he had a good game he scored. No he had a bad game and got bailed out. Also is the D playing against the other teams top line? How many blocked shots ? How did he move the puck out of the zone? How many hits? But its a problem in hockey culture, even in Juniors who is the D of the week the guy who scored 2 over the weekend. Not the guy who blocked 8 shots, shut down the other top line etc.
Elbrecht, Mosey had a good game. Mosey is a good match for RPI because they are a very small team. Like so many D they when they are small they have a hard time playing against a larger team.
Some good points noted.
Would like your take after tonight's game if you are able to make it.
On the D as it"s been a topic for years...
Surprised to not see Cooper in the pairings. He has played well when given the opportunity. I agree with hockeyfan's post, you can't always judge D performance by the +/-.
