The Mavericks fell to the Huskies 4-1, seeing Tech snap a 15-game winless streak that included 14 straight losses at one time. It was Tech's first win since Nov. 13.
Rylan Galiardi scored MSU's lone goal, a short-handed tally, late in the game, ending Kevin Genoe's shutout bid. But that goal did not come until after the Huskies had a 4-0 lead.
Malcolm Gwilliam scored two goals and assisted on another for the winners, while Drew Dobson and Brett Olson had the other Tech Goals.
The Mavericks, who have now lost five games in a row and six straight conference games, outshot the Huskies 31-28.
Saturday's series finale will be a 4:07 p.m. start (5:07 p.m. EST).

I attended the game tonight. The team looked disorganized for much of the game. MTU won on all facets of the game. We were outhustled. We had extreme difficulty breaking out of our own zone, which led to numerous turnovers and multiple goals against. While MSU was credited with 31 shots on goal, there were very few quality scoring chances, particularly on the power play.

what is with the self-destruct mode this team is on?
I read your paper article from last nights game and find ZERO emotion from the coach(es) or players.
Especially the so called captains. Who are they by the way??? Are they not able to "call-out" the team because of their own play and lack of true leadership?
I followed your live Blog last night as several bloggers made sense with their points and some were a little to emotional. Perhaps they could share that edge with this team. I thought of chiming in, but everyone else seemed to be sharing my and probably most fan and season ticket holders views.
Just what is it. Something is terribly broken and needs to be fixed. Why does the coach not rip the players? Why don't the players rip themselves?
With all this talent on paper including NHL drafts - "Houston, we have a problem".

I really didn't need to come home last night and read this. Thanks to Shane and his information, it ruined my perfect night of pond hockey!
Ok, I really don't mean to pick on Shane but seriously, I hope this loss wakes the team up a bit. It was only a matter of time before the Huskies won a game but who better to beat than us? They probably saw our winless skid and were licking their chops. Well fine, but now it's time to rebound and pound the Huskies like we did in November!
C'MON MAVS!!! GET THE LEAD OUT! Seems like an eternity since the days when we'd play with a jump in our step.
Ditto to the comments above......I got this morning's paper, looked at the standings and we were in second place. I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and realized I had the paper upside down only to see a dose of the real Mavs and Coach Jutting in "9th place". We aren't a well coached team with too many individuals....Do I really want my season tickets?
